    台灣的烏魚子,滋味悠長,價格雖昂卻非驚人,這一味可不是外國人可以體會的。

    "Taste" is kinda quite subjective, so some people love caviar but some don't.

    Friend brought me one jar from Russia a couple years ago, but to be honesty, I don't really like it, but at least I got the chance to taste it, and that wasn't a bad experivence. I prefer "mullet roe" (烏魚子), and I think that I have just got used to its flavor.

    There is something similar to "mullet roe" in Sardinia of Italy, and people in Sardinia love to put it into pasta. It tastes not bad to me, but most of my English friends say that it tastes "awful. So, there is nothing can please everyone, right?

    Peter Mayle described "caviar" well in his article " A Mouthful of Black Pearl" I quote it as below to share with everyone, and hope you all enjoy it:

    It is a food for good times and bad times, a reward for triumphs, and a consolation for disasters. It will taste wonderful on the day you make your first million, and maybe even better as a final defiant gesture before bankruptcy; at the beginning of a love affair, or at the end. There is always an excuse for caviar, and if you can’t immediately think of one, you can eat it simply for reason of health. There is a rumor that caviar is good for you.

    "Taste" is always a big issue for human being.
    Taste is about one's education, culture, environment, love, hate, even the weather and the moon.
    It's not easy to describe taste itself. As your mention, food can please one and revolt another. So glad my article could agree with your "Taste" XD
    BTW, I like Peter's writing, too. Especially the English irony.
